About Me

Hello, My name is Anna and I’m a current student at Appalachian State University. I’m a Sustainable Technology major, and am looking into a possible focus in electric vehicle for a future career.

My Passion for Sports

I didn’t find out that I had a passion for sports until I was in middle school. When I was little I was never able to participate in a ton of spots due to having severe asthma. Starting in 7th grade, I participated in swim team. I did a summer league and a year round swim team. I struggled at first but the more I did it I was able to gain more endurance and breath control. Swim team was a huge commitment. From going to weekend long meets to having practice for three hours after school. I enjoyed swimming but the year round commitment became too much in high school. In 11th grade, I ended up quitting year round swim team, and joining my high school’s cross country team. I loved being on this team as it wasn’t competitive but more about improving your time. I did have some health concerns come up during my two seasons of cross country. I found out that I have pretty bad tendonitis when I run on trails, and based on the weather my asthma would act up. I also participated in basketball for two years of high school. My team lost pretty much all of our games but we enjoyed what we had accomplished. We were the first female varsity basketball team the school had had. I did end up getting a concussion during one season and had a few other injuries due to falls and aggressive players. Now that I am in college, I have gone back to swimming just for fun a few days a week with one of my roommates.

My Trip to San Francisco

In the summer of 2017, I went to San Francisco to help my older sister move into her apartment. She was participating in an internship with ABC. We spent about a week going to many tourist spots and enjoying the food. We spent a lot of time in Fisherman’s Wharf and watching the Sea lions play. Some of my favorite memories were doing an 8 mile bike ride around San Francisco, seeing the Golden Gate Bridge, going to an aquarium, and taking a boat ride in the bay. My all time favorite day trip was our trip to Muir Woods. We spent the day walking around and taking pictures next to these mature Redwood trees. The above picture is one that I took while on the trip. Although I didn’t get to see all of San Francisco, I got to see many historical/popular spots. I learned about their signature foods, the fire of 1851, and got to drive by the Walt Disney museum.
